McFerron addressed voter apathy for people younger than 30. McFerron said, "Voters younger than 30, most of them are registered independent, among those who even bother to register. I really believe it's because they think their vote won't matter."
McFerron talked about Oklahoma being a one-party state in the last presidential election. "We haven't always been a one-party state but even as a Republican, I think it's wrong to exclude people from meaningful elections."
